Wedding Spotlight: Megan and Kent Worden

Megan and Kent Worden tied the knot with a beautiful, Spring wedding at Ball Conference Center this past weekend. Celebrating their marriage with a memorable night spent with close friends and family, it was a fairytale evening that the Wordens will not soon forget!

Megan and Kent first met in college during a Physics class their Sophomore year. Some might say it was a “magnetic connection” that five years later led to them exchanging wedding vows this past Saturday in front of a delighted group of adoring friends and family.

Asked about their experience planning their wedding with Ball Conference Center, Megan exclaimed, “They were awesome! It was nice having the wonderful Reception Package – it saved so much time for us.” Kent continued, “It all went really smooth – it really was the complete wedding package.”

When entering the reception at Ball Conference Center, guests were greeted with a poignant sign that read, “Loved you yesterday, love you still, always have, always will.” Fresh bunches of Lilies, Hydrangeas and Baby’s Breath were a fragrant part of each guest table – and also adorned their lovely wedding cake.

A nostalgic slideshow of young Megan and Kent played as guests snapped pictures with disposable cameras found at each table. Glasses clinked together throughout the evening, coaxing the newlyweds to multiple kisses and as guests repeatedly toasted the couple’s perfect “chemistry” and offering their best wishes for a long and happy marriage!

6 Tips to Put Some Spring into Your Wedding

Spring has sprung and along with rainy days, blooming flowers, and green grass, there is of course the thrill of wedding season! We say embrace this colorful season! With the help of Ball Conference Center and our six Spring wedding tips, your special day will bloom into the fairy tale wedding that you’ve always dreamed of!

Ball Conference Center Watercolor Palettes

This Spring, pastel watercolors are the season’s popular color trend. From envelope liners to place cards, these brushstroke designs make every detail of your big day truly one of a kind. Watercolor is an ideal way for multiple hues to live together in one cohesive design – whether you’re going for a subtle ombre design or combining two vibrant colors. This is a look that’s sure to impress your guests!

Floral Prints

New York Bridal Fashion Week runways have made floral prints the “it” pattern for this Spring! If your fairy tale wedding has you dreaming of a white dress, then dress your bridesmaids in a pretty, complementary floral print! Floral print ties or pocket squares for the groomsmen is another great option to make your wedding party really blossom!

Tall Tiers

To ensure that the wedding cake is the exclamation point of the reception, couples are often going more above and beyond than ever. A tall cake does not have to be a fancy, column-clad design. Instead of fondant-covered tiers, your cake can be personalized to express your own personal style. To top things off, many brides have opted for a calligraphy-style word-phrase that speaks to the couple’s personality.

Colored Stones

Ball Conference CenterRecently Kate Middleton and Iggy Azalea have been spotted wearing wedding rings with colored stones instead of traditional clear diamonds boosting their popularity. Daring brides are opting for a symbolic or sentimental gem, as opposed to the more traditional diamond when it comes to center stones. If you still envision your special day with a diamond center stone, try swapping in a small colored gemstone on the wedding band or engagement ring setting. It’s a unique touch that will truly make a statement.

Sheer Dress Details

Breezy spring weather calls for illusion necklines, airy fabrics and romantic details in your wedding dress – perfect for the season. These dresses photograph beautifully and include a wide range between styles. A bohemian design made of loose crystals or a sweet floral illusion neckline is guaranteed to impress on your wedding day

Interactive Stations and Family-Style Serving

Bring some quirkiness to your wedding through with an inventive menu! Sit-down dinners are transforming into playful, family-style meals with local, seasonal ingredients, location-specific specialties and interactive food stations. Try hosting a cocktail hour with a variety of different drink options and an appetizer station before dinner. (Come on – even a bride has to eat!)

Whether you plan to serve your wedding guests a cool glass of lemonade, or take advantage of a bright, spring color palette, there’s no better place to make your big day perfect than Ball Conference Center’s elegant ballroom. The Culver’s decided to have their reception at Ball Conference Center because a portion of the proceeds go to KVC Health Center, an organization committed to enriching and enhancing the lives of children and families. KVC offers in-home support to keep families together, foster care, and adoption to families in the Kansas City metro.

“We chose Ball Conference Center because they give back to KVC and my grandparents have done foster care my whole life,” said Kaytie.

Following a delicious meal, some very heartfelt speeches were given, including a tearful toast by the Father of the Bride. Top 8 Wedding Trends for 2016

New wedding trends are here! The New Year is upon us and that means goodbye 2015 HELLO to 2016! Check out top emerging wedding trends for 2016 and bring your favorites to your one-of-a kind reception at Ball Conference Center and your special day will be one for the books!

1. Metallic Color Palettes

Metallics are surprisingly versatile, says New York City event-planning guru Harriette Rose Katz. “Depending on how and where you bring them into your celebration,” she says, “they can be elegant, whimsical, ethereal or even very natural.” (Think glitzy golds to pop out room decor at a black-tie wedding, copper lanterns at an outdoor reception or on a rustic tablescape.)metals

No matter the venue or theme, designers across the country say rose gold will show up on everything from rings to table linens. Even the food and drink get in on the trend, with shiny blush icings on desserts and rose-hued cocktails. One metallic that is on the wane, however, is silver.

2. Lighting Galore

The key to setting a romantic mood? Ambience. “Every couple wants to create a more romantic and intimate environment,” says Los Angeles–based event designer Trish Stevens of Classic Party Rentals. “Wedding lighting is the best — and simplest — way to establish both.” Event designers say they’re using more pendant lights with bare “Edison” bulbs, chandeliers (both vintage and modern) and candelabras to cast a soft glow.

3. Creative Seating Plans

Couples are moving away from a reception layout based on large round tables, which has a tendency to feel too much like a conference event, and are instead opting for either very long, rectangular tables or a mix of long tables surrounded by smaller square and round tables — all for a more intimate vibe. And lounge areas, complete with comfortable seating options, remain a crucial part of the cocktail and after-party hours.

4. Non-Floral Centerpieces

Pottedtable trees, succulents, ferns, lavender sprigs and decorative leaves (such as magnolia, begonia) are no longer reserved for anchoring flower arrangements — these days they can become the focal point of the décor. Flowering plants and blooming branches (think flowering quince, crab apple or cherry blossom) also work well as creative centerpieces. And a budget-friendly elegant idea is to adorn bare branches with crepe-paper flowers or sparkly jewels.

5. Glitzy Invitations

“Shimmer, sparkle, glitter — across the board everyone loves high shine,” says Amber Harrison, style expert for Wedding Paper Divas. Warm tones like rose gold and copper are the most requested metallic shades for 2016. And the trend is showing up on stamped and foil-pressed lettering and in shimmery papers.

6. Funky Fonts

There’s such a strong cultural interest in words and graphics that it couldn’t help but spill over into the world of wedding invitations. “Using multiple fonts on an all-type invitation adds fresh personality,” says Tifany Wunschl of Gourmet Invitations.

7. His and Hers Cocktailsdrinks

What better way to give your guests a glimpse of who you are than by serving them your favorite libations? Event planner Alison Laesser-Keck of VLD Events points out that this trend is not only easier on the budget (no more guesstimating for an open bar) but it’s an instant conversation starter.

8. “Naked” Cakes

“Naked” cakes, which are unfrosted (or partially frosted) and simply adorned with berries or fresh flowers, are trending from coast to coast — and at both relaxed receptions and more formal affairs, says Nataly from the Great Dane Baking Company in Long Beach, California.
