Ball Hosts Inclusion Connections Fashion Ability!

Ball Conference Center recently hosted Inclusion Connection’s 2018 FashionAbility Gala! This Kansas City not-for-profit’s mission is to serve teens and young adults with disabilities by creating inclusive opportunities for community involvement, access to employment, and better options for independent living.

On February 22, 2018, Inclusion Connections had their 4th annual FashionAbility Gala – it was an evening of fun, fashion, and fundraising! Dozens of young adults from Kansas City with disabilities dressed up in their best attire to strut their stuff down the runway! This fashion show is a great way for these models to go out and be themselves and have a great time with their friends and loved ones!

Not only does the FashionAbility Gala encourage acceptance, an auction was held to raise thousands of dollars for transportation needs, summer camps, and job training for these young adults in Kansas City.

Paige Engle, a Junior attending Kansas State University comes home every year to volunteer at the FashionAbility Gala.

“This is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I come home every year to be at this event. The first time I volunteered, I loved it so much. I always make a new friend every time I attend FashionAbility,” Engle said.

Renny Arensberg, member of KVC Health Systems will be a featured mentor at the Kansas City Business Journal “Bizwomen Mentoring Monday 2018! Renny is Executive Vice President of KVC Health Systems. She has over 15 years at KVC and has become known for her unique combination of energy, insight, agility and authenticity that motivates her teams to high achievement.

This event is being held by Business Journals all over the country involving women who are going to be mentored. These women are some of the most influential business leaders in the country. Attendees have the opportunity to choose from these mentors and have a one-on-one coaching session.

Did your holiday season surprises include a sparkling new engagement ring on your finger? First, congratulations! We know the path to getting married can be an exciting yet intimidating journey. With so many moving parts, planning the wedding of your dreams can be quite daunting! The good news? Ball Conference Center is here to make life a little easier with 10 wedding planning to-dos for the recently engaged!

1.) Organize a Timeline

First, focus on determining a range of dates that will work for you. You may not be able to set an exact date until other major decisions are made (such as booking your venue). When drafting your timeline, keep in mind that the average engagement lasts 15 months, and watch for seasons that you prefer and keep an eye out for major holidays to avoid.

2.) Find Your Style & Location

Before moving forward with other wedding details, take the time to imagine what style and vibe you want to set for your wedding and where you want it held. Do you picture your wedding on a beach, an outdoor garden, or even a historical mansion? Take time to gather inspiration through magazines, Pinterest, and others’ wedding photos to help give you a better idea of what you might prefer.

3.) Set Your Budget

Discussing how much your families may be contributing will be a big help in working through your budget. It can be an uncomfortable conversation to have, but it’s better to get it out of the way now so that you have a realistic picture about what you can spend for the big day!

4.) Plan Your Guest List

Ball Hosts 2017 Career Expo!

Ball Conference Center recently hosted Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 High School Career Expo! High School juniors and seniors had the chance to come out to Ball to explore employment opportunities after graduation.  Students were able to check out a variety of vocational opportunities, including excellent face time networking with various companies such as Top Golf, Johnson County Community College, the Olathe Fire Department, Garmin, Kansas State University, and McCown Gordon Construction – just to name a few!Ball Conference Center Career Expo 13

“I’m looking for some insight into what type of jobs are available right now,” Noah Filbert, a Junior from Olathe West High School, exclaimed. “I’m currently looking for law enforcement and firefighting – anything that can help people.” Noah went on to say, “I really enjoyed the firefighter booth and police officer booth; all of the nursing booths are really cool where you can try out different stuff – it’s really awesome!”

Maddie Wagner, a Junior from Olathe West High School, aspires to be a dental hygienist. “I want to go to K State or Johnson County and do a dental hygienist program there!” With booths from both schools represented at the Career Expo, it was the perfect opportunity for Maddie to explore the possibilities of her future career in dental hygiene!

Whether students were looking for internships, full-time jobs, or just an opportunity to work on their networking skills, the event had something for everyone. Through the Expo, students experienced the chance to chat with recruiters from each organization and learn more about opportunities after graduation – including secondary education, technology opportunities, government vocations and more!

Wedding Spotlight: Ben & Bethanie Dombrowski

Ball Conference Center hosted a picture-perfect wedding ceremony and reception celebrating Ben & Bethanie Dombrowski’s happily ever after on Saturday, November 11th, 2017! The brisk Fall weather was no bother to wedding guests as the newlyweds warmed hearts with beautiful wedding vows and happy tears.

Ben & Bethanie’s love story originated at Brickyard, where they dated for four years before Ben got down on one knee during Thanksgiving, surrounded by family. The couple have come full circle to tie the knot in November, bringing families together again.

The wedding ceremony was held in one half of the ballroom, beautifully decorated in shades of royal blue and white. Flickering candles glimmered along the aisle, leading up to an arbor draped in tulle and soft string lighting. After saying their “I do’s,” the ballroom was opened up to accommodate the reception space. Through the transition, guests enjoyed the photo booth, grazed the candy and snack tables, and sipped cocktails from the bar.

Entering the reception space, tables were elegantly dressed in royal blue hues, warm candles and vintage lanterns, while rustic accents adorned the couple’s table. Guests were surrounded by many customized pieces, such as trendy chalkboard art, that highlighted elements of the Dombrowski’s relationship. Ben & Bethanie’s love for each other shone bright as they celebrated their vows with family and friends!

Ball Hosts the Hillcrest of Kansas Infinite Possibilities Gala!

Kansas Hillcrest supporters gathered at Ball Conference Center last weekend, November 4th, for the Hillcrest of Kansas 12th Annual Infinite Possibilities Gala event! Guests enjoyed an evening of fine food and drink with opportunities to support the Kansas Hillcrest Transitional Housing. Gala-goers bid on items at the silent and live auction to help end homelessness for Johnson and Wyandotte County youth, children, and families.

The Infinite Possibilities Gala is the Hillcrest Transitional Housing of Kansas’ annual fundraising event, where proceeds help offer homeless families, singles and youths a disciplined education program within a caring, supportive environment. In 2016, Hillcrest benefited from 3,599 volunteer hours with help from hundreds of volunteers and residents with maintenance, the Community Garden, grounds keeping, painting, cleaning, etc. Thus far, Hillcrest has provided 15,853 bed nights and 55,456 meals. With their help, they saw 50 family units and 11 youths graduate into self-sufficiency last year.

Some of the items being auctioned off included a set of vintage furniture, various wine gift baskets, Chiefs and Royals sports memorabilia, a Lake of the Ozarks Weekend Getaway, and even a 10-month old shepherd mix puppy – complete with food bowls, dog food and training! There was truly something for everyone!

The Hillcrest of Kansas Infinite Possibilities Gala truly highlighted the versatility of the Ball Conference Center ballroom and surrounding space! With the use of the Ballroom, Executive Boardroom, and Mabee Classrom, Ball Conference Center can be transformed to cater to any type of event.
