KVC and Ball Conference Center to Receive Extreme Heinen Landscape Makeover

Heinen Landscape and Irrigation to bring their entire company out for a one-day landscape makeover of our own KVC Health Systems, Ball Conference Center’s building neighbor and partner…” – and  an Olathe nonprofit and national leader in adoption, child welfare education – all pro-bono!

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, the Heinen team (approx. 20 individuals) will spend the entire day transforming and beautifying the landscape at KVC’s headquarters and its sister venue, the Ball Conference Center. Heinen has partnered with several vendors including House of Rocks and KAT Nurseries to obtain all landscape materials for the project including trees, shrubs, plants, and granite patio areas. The entire project is at no cost to KVC – and will be completed (mostly) in one day!

KVC plan 2015Dave Heinen, owner of Heinen Landscape, said of the special event, “Adoption and finding lifetime homes for children is an important cause. And KVC does a great job uniting kids and families. Our people really wanted to take the time to help a great cause in our community, and KVC was a perfect fit.”

For the Ball Conference Center, this upgrade will mean a beautiful backdrop for bridal photos and special events.

Said Michael Nicoski of the landscape makeover, “This is going to make such an impact on our bridal audience. The curb appeal of the venue will be dramatically different.”

This will be a fast, fun and exciting event that will include a lunchtime cookout for the landscaping team and a mutual end of project celebration where the KVC staff will emerge for the “big reveal”!

In its 45-year history, KVC has grown from a local home for at-risk boys to a national organization touching the lives of over 50,000 children and families each year.

Heinen Landscape and Irrigation is a full service landscape company based in Merriam, Kansas that has served both residential and commercial customers in Kansas City for over 25 years.

KVC and Ball Conference Center Expansion

We’re excited to announce that the completion of our expansion will be unveiled in April!

A groundbreaking was held last May  to expand both the KVC and the Ball Conference Center, allowing for 100+ more guests in the facility – making weddings and corporate events and parties easy to plan and enjoy. KVC also notes that “The $6 million initiative to expand the facilities will also increase KVC’s ability to serve children and families, and to lead the nation in child welfare and behavioral healthcare innovations.

Spotlight on Bride Jessica Fangman

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Fangman!

We took some time to chat with Olathe native Mrs. Jessica Fangman on her experience with planning her wedding and discovering the Ball Conference Center

BCC: How did you meet your husband (Matthew)?

JF: It was actually both of our first day of college at Pittsburgh State. We were in a class together. 10485388_2362317096099_1700661666325587014_n

BCC: And how did you find out about Ball Conference Center?

JF: Well, my search started on the internet, but I am also in social work – and happened to start working for the Lenexa KVC facility as Family Services Coordinator  after I did my practicum through KVC. Then I toured the Ball Conference Center and loved it!

BCC: What were some of the features that you liked?

JF: The package deal with caterer included is awesome, and the facility was able to hold all of our guests. Michael and the staff were really flexible – they worked with my design ideas. But most importantly we liked that our money went back to KVC to help children in need of a new home.

BCC: Tell us how you came to have such creative ideas for your wedding decor? 10403119_2362317216102_5149235358510169389_n

JF: I always liked creative design in high school and also a bit in college. It was fun to bring different ideas to life.

BCC: And where did you spend your honeymoon?

JF: In Jamaica – it was wonderful.

BCC: If you had to do the wedding all over again (planning, etc.) would you?

JF: Absolutely – I’d even consider doing some wedding planning – I loved it!

Ball Conference Center Kansas City

Support KVC with Your Event at the Ball Conference Center

There are not many facilities in the KC metro that offer an additional benefit and purpose such as the one at the Ball Conference Center. When you host an event at Ball Conference Center, you are supporting KVC (Kids Value Connections).

KVC is a Behavioral Healthcare program and not-for-profit organization focused on the enrichment and enhancement of the lives of children and families. During the construction of the new KVC facility, a portion of the space was designed to house the Ball Conference Center. No matter if you are planning a wedding, corporate event or planning a retreat in Kansas City, you can be certain that a portion of your fee goes directly to support the KVC.

KVC offers a wide variety of medical, behavioral and social services to thousands of children and families across Kansas each year – from their psychiatric hospital and residential facilities for children, to outpatient services with on-staff psychologists, psychiatrists and pediatricians; from recruitment and support for hundreds of foster homes, to finding loving, adoptive families for awaiting children.

The most important service KVC offers is the creation of hope and a path to reach it. Every individual, business and community partner that hosts an event at the Ball Conference Center is helping pave that path, a path KVC could not build without this support.

If you would like to know more about the KVC mission or more information about children awaiting adoption, visit http://kvc.org.  You may also directly contact Jenny Kutz, Director of Development, for more information at 913.322.4944 or jkutz@kvc.org.
